How do I choose my first fragrance?

How does sample credit work?

Pay for your samples at checkout. We email a one-time credit for the sample merchandise amount paid, redeemable on a full-size fragrance. You can combine discovery credits with one regular promo code. Credit cannot be spent on samples or exceed your merchandise total.

How long does the fragrance last?

Long lasting, 6–8+ hours. Wear time varies with skin, application, and environment. A sample lets you experience the fragrance on your own skin.

Where do you ship?

What if my fragrance is not for me?

Every full-size bottle comes with our 30-Day Fragrance Guarantee. If it isn’t right, return it within 30 days of delivery in its original packaging, lightly tested, for a refund or replacement. Return shipping is free. Start a return or read the policy.

Born from obsession.

Velum Mystica was founded on a single conviction: that fragrance is the most intimate form of expression, and it deserves to be treated as art.

We are an independent perfumery in the most literal sense. Every fragrance is composed, blended, and bottled by hand, in small batches, by the founder — not in a factory, not under license, not to a marketing brief. When a batch runs out, the next one is made by the same hands.

Every composition in our collection is built around a single question. What does sunlight become when it touches water? What blooms only after dark? What burns beneath the soil? Some answers are for her, some are for him, and some refuse the distinction entirely.

These are not questions with easy answers. The compositions are not simple. But that is the point.

Every Velum Mystica fragrance begins with a composition I would want to wear myself. I develop each formula, blend and bottle in small batches, and personally prepare every order.

My background in data science shapes my attention to detail, but scent is deeply personal to me—a balance of precision, instinct, and feeling. I want every bottle to express that care, from the first impression to the last trace on skin.

Every US order ships free of charge via USPS Ground Advantage — no minimum purchase, no exceptions. Shipping is included in the price you see at checkout.

Orders are typically dispatched within 1–3 business days of payment confirmation. Estimated delivery after dispatch:

Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees. Delays may occur due to carrier capacity, customs clearance, or other factors outside our control.

Tracking

Once your order ships, you will receive an email with your carrier and tracking number. You can also ask Aria (our chat assistant) for your tracking information by providing your email address or order reference number.

Customs and Import Duties (Canada)

Canadian orders may be subject to customs duties, taxes, or import fees imposed on delivery. These charges are the responsibility of the recipient and are not included in the order total. We are not able to predict or control these fees.

Incorrect Address

Please double-check your shipping address at checkout. We are not responsible for packages lost or delayed due to an incorrect address. If a package is returned to us due to an undeliverable address, we will contact you to arrange reshipment — additional shipping charges may apply.

Wear it, live with it, and decide. If a full-size fragrance isn’t right for you, return it within 30 days of delivery for a full refund to your original payment method or a replacement. Return shipping is on us.

Return Conditions

To keep every bottle we sell fresh and fair for everyone, a return qualifies when:

  • It is within 30 days of delivery.
  • It comes back in its original packaging — everything it arrived in.
  • It shows acceptable use only. A few sprays across a few wears is all it takes to know whether a fragrance is yours, so the bottle must be lightly tested, with at least 90% of the fragrance remaining. Bottles that have been partly used up are not eligible.

2ml samples are made to be worn and are not returnable. They are the best way to try a fragrance first: explore samples, and the amount you pay for them becomes credit toward a full-size bottle.

How Returns Work

  1. Start your return on our return page with the email you used at checkout.
  2. We email you a prepaid USPS return label within 1–2 business days. Return shipping is free.
  3. Pack the bottle in its original packaging and drop it off at any USPS location or blue USPS collection box.
  4. We inspect it on arrival and issue your refund to the original payment method or ship your replacement. Refunds typically appear within 5–10 business days.

If a returned bottle does not meet the conditions above, we will let you know and send it back to you at no charge.

Damaged or Defective Items

If your order arrives damaged or with a defect, please contact us at hello@velummystica.com within 7 days of delivery with:

  • Your order reference number (found in your confirmation email)
  • A description of the damage or defect
  • Photos clearly showing the issue

We will send a replacement at no cost to you. No need to return the damaged item.

Wrong Item Received

If you received a different product than what you ordered, contact us within 7 days of delivery at hello@velummystica.com. We will ship the correct item immediately and cover all associated costs.

Lost Packages

If your tracking shows your package as delivered but you have not received it, please first check with neighbors or your building's reception area. If the package is still missing, contact us within 14 days of the estimated delivery date and we will investigate with the carrier and work toward a resolution.

We also collect limited usage information automatically through the analytics services described in Section 4 — pages visited, approximate location (country/region), device and browser type, and how you interact with the site. This data is aggregated and is not used to personally identify you. We do not sell this data or use it for third-party advertising, and we do not build customer profiles beyond what is necessary to fulfill your order and improve the site.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To process and fulfill your order, including sending order confirmation and shipping notifications.
  • To respond to your inquiries and support requests.
  • To provide order status information through our chat assistant.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We work with the following trusted third-party providers to operate our service:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Your payment details are entered on Stripe's hosted page and are governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy. Stripe also processes device information, IP addresses, cookies, and interactions with payment components to display payment options, prevent fraud, and improve its services.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — website hosting, file storage (S3), and serverless compute (Lambda) in the United States.
  • EmailJS / Amazon SES — transactional email delivery (order confirmations, contact form responses).
  • Anthropic — powers our AI chat assistant (Aria). Messages sent to Aria may be processed by Anthropic's API. We do not use this data for model training.
  • Google Analytics — website usage analytics (pages visited, traffic sources, purchases). Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Microsoft Clarity — anonymized session analytics (heatmaps and interaction recordings) that help us improve the site experience. Text you type into forms is masked. Governed by Microsoft's Privacy Statement.

5. Cookies

We use browser storage (localStorage) to maintain your shopping cart across page visits; your cart data lives only in your own browser. In addition, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set first-party cookies to distinguish visitors and measure site usage, as described in Section 4. These cookies are not used for third-party advertising. You can block or delete them at any time through your browser settings without affecting your ability to shop.

6. Data Retention

Order records (name, email, shipping address, items purchased) are retained for as long as necessary to fulfill the order, handle any inquiries, and comply with applicable tax and legal obligations — typically up to 7 years. You may request deletion at any time by emailing hello@velummystica.com; we will honor requests unless retention is required by law.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

By accessing velummystica.com or placing an order, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our website.

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes take effect upon posting. Continued use of the website constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

2. Products and Pricing

All prices are listed in US dollars (USD) and are subject to change without notice. We make every effort to display accurate product information and pricing, but we reserve the right to correct errors and to cancel orders placed at incorrect prices.

Product images are for illustrative purposes. Bottle imagery is derived from photographs of the actual products and digitally refined; backgrounds and settings are digitally composed illustrations. The appearance of products may vary slightly from images shown on the website.

Fragrance descriptions, scent notes, and character tags are provided as guides. Individual scent perception varies by skin chemistry, environment, and personal physiology. We cannot guarantee that a fragrance will smell identical to its description on every person.

3. Orders and Payment

Placing an order constitutes an offer to purchase. We reserve the right to accept or decline any order. You will receive an order confirmation email once your order is accepted and payment is confirmed.

Payment is processed securely by Stripe. We accept major credit and debit cards, eligible digital wallets, and available pay-over-time options shown at checkout. Payment method availability depends on your location, order, and provider eligibility. Any financing terms are provided by the selected payment provider. By providing payment information, you represent that you are authorized to use the payment method and that the information provided is accurate.

All transactions are subject to Stripe's Terms of Service.

4. Shipping and Delivery

  • We deliver to the United States and Canada only.
  • United States: free standard shipping (USPS Ground Advantage) is included on all orders, with no minimum purchase required. Optional paid UPS services (Ground, 2nd Day Air, Next Day Air) may be selected at checkout at the rates shown.
  • Canada: orders ship via UPS at the rate selected during checkout (UPS Standard or UPS Expedited). Any customs duties, taxes, or import fees imposed on delivery are the responsibility of the recipient.
  • Estimated delivery is 3–9 business days after dispatch depending on destination and service. Actual delivery times may vary due to carrier delays, customs processing, or other factors beyond our control.
  • Shipping estimates are not guarantees. We are not liable for delays caused by carriers or customs authorities.
  • Risk of loss and title pass to you upon delivery to the carrier.

5. Returns and Refunds

Full-size fragrances are covered by our 30-Day Fragrance Guarantee: within 30 days of delivery you may return a full-size bottle for a full refund to your original payment method or a replacement, provided it is returned in its original packaging and shows acceptable use only — lightly tested, with at least 90% of the fragrance remaining. Return shipping is free via a prepaid USPS label we provide; returns are started at velummystica.com/start-return. Returned bottles that do not meet these conditions are not eligible and will be sent back to you. 2ml samples are not returnable. In addition:

  • Damaged or defective product — if your order arrives damaged or defective, contact us at hello@velummystica.com within 7 days of delivery with photos of the damage. We will send a replacement at no cost.
  • Wrong item shipped — if you receive an item different from what you ordered, contact us within 7 days of delivery and we will correct the error.

We are not responsible for packages lost or delayed due to incorrect shipping addresses provided at checkout. If a package is returned to us due to an incorrect address, we will contact you to arrange reshipment at your expense.

6. Product Availability

Our fragrances are produced in limited batches. We do not guarantee continuous availability of any product. If an item becomes unavailable after your order is placed, we will contact you promptly to offer a full refund.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on velummystica.com — including but not limited to text, product descriptions, fragrance names, brand names, logos, images, and design elements — is the property of Velum Mystica and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content on this website without our prior written consent.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The website and its content are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the website is free of viruses or other harmful components.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Velum Mystica shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our website, products, or services — including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
